This #GoodNewsFriday we hear about how Persona Care have been celebrating staff this year through new initiatives.

Earlier this year, Persona Care launched their Staff Ambassadors initiative. This is an opportunity for staff to get directly involved in taking forward the organisation’s strategy.

There are four Ambassador roles:

Workforce – which is focussed on promoting roles within care, attending recruitment events and linking in with staff about what's great about their role, understanding why people may leave and any steps needed to improve inclusion within the organisation.

Wellbeing – looking at promoting and engaging with staff around all things wellbeing and understanding why sometimes there may be barriers to taking ownership of wellbeing.

Digital – to support implementation of digital approaches within the organisation and create a buzz about being more digital, along with gathering ideas from staff and people supported on changes that could be made to support them around adopting digital solutions.

Green – promoting all things ‘green’ and working with staff teams to identify changes to reduce the impact on the environment.

All roles will be paid roles and Ambassadors will develop a monthly diary/blog about their activities to ensure that wider staff teams are kept up to date on new developments.

Laura Wolstenholme, says:

This is a great opportunity for staff to develop in their career within an area that they have a passion about, whilst also having key involvement in taking forward our strategy.

The organisation has also developed a Rising Stars scheme.

Staff provided feedback to say that they were not always clear on their career progression opportunities within the organisation. In response to this and to try to address the ageing workforce they launched the Rising Stars Programme aimed at upskilling, planning and preparing staff with the key skills and experiences for becoming leaders and managers of the future. Whilst on the Rising Stars programme staff members will also be supported to obtain a formal qualification.

The programme has been developed collaboratively with existing managers who will also play a key part in identifying potential Rising Stars.

Laura says:

It is important for us that staff know that we respond to their feedback and the launching of the Rising Star scheme is a direct result of staff feedback. During the launch of the scheme at our annual staff workshops a number of staff commented on how this is something that they really wanted to be part of.
